Working with Emotions

Starting point

A client came with a sense of helplessness and vulnerability that arose while they were feeling very unwell. In the consultation they connected this feeling, through inner images, to earlier life situations.

Related memories

The memories included the experience of a first childbirth, an incident at school, a lost bag, the loss of a beloved kitten, a sibling’s illness and two intrusive neighbours. The common thread was helplessness or having personal boundaries crossed.

Transformation

Image by image we looked for new perspectives: the client gently corrected the teacher’s mistake, found the lost bag, said an affectionate goodbye to the kitten and became more assertive with the neighbours.

The client’s experience

According to the client, when the images were revisited, the earlier difficult feelings had become neutral and were replaced by calm or acceptance.

This case study describes an individual experience and does not promise any result.
